Accelerated 4+1 Master of Science Degree in Technology Management

Accelerated 4+1 Master of Science Degree in Technology Management

On the average, a person with a graduate degree earns $600,000 more over their life compared to a baccalaureate degree only. The earlier a person earns the graduate degree, the higher their earnings will be. Normally it takes two years for a full-time graduate student to complete a master’s degree. The Master of Science in Technology Management (MSTM) Accelerated option allows you to complete the MSTM in one year. Most people find it more convenient to earn an MS immediately upon earning the bachelor's degree.

The 4+1 option works by scheduling three of your undergraduate senior year 400-level courses as 500-level—this allows the course to count towards the baccalaureate and MSTM degrees. Additionally, you will take two graduate only courses your senior year. Upon baccalaureate graduation, you will have already completed about ½ of the MSTM. a

Choosing the 4+1 option has advantages even if you decide to not complete the MSTM as a full-time student. You can complete the MSTM part time; you can start the MSTM later; you can apply the graduate credits you have earned to another graduate degree.

You must choose this option before you schedule your senior year courses because there is an application process, and your senior year courses must be scheduled correctly. No GRE is required. Your final undergraduate GPA must be 3.0. The following undergraduate majors work very well for the 4+1 option.

  • Automotive Engineering Technology
  • Civil Engineering Technology
  • Engineering
  • Engineering Technology
  • Engineering Technology Management
  • Manufacturing Engineering Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology
