Heavenly Goodrum-Mitchell, Business Intelligence Developer at MasterBrand Cabinets

Heavenly Goodrum-Mitchell graduated from Indiana State University in 2014 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering Technology and Information Technology. While at ISU, she served as the treasurer of Females in Technology and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers/International Society of Automation. She has been working as a Business Intelligence Developer at MasterBrand Cabinets since the completion of her rotation program and creates all the reporting analysis for the company. MasterBrand Cabinets is the #1 cabinet company in North America and has over 50 brands ranging from non-custom to custom design. Heavenly continues to support her alma mater as a mentor and a member of the FiT Advisory Council.

 

Azizi Arrington-Bey, Associate Professor of Interior Architecture Design at Indiana State University

Azizi Arrington-Bey is a licensed architect, registered interior designer, and an associate professor of Interior Architecture Design at Indiana State University. She spent five years after graduating in 2005 with her Masters from Florida A&M University (FAMU), practicing architecture as a project manager and teaching as an adjunct instructor at a university and community college in Florida. As a student at FAMU, Azizi was president of the American Institute of Architects Student (AIAS) chapter, a member of the National Organization of Minority Architects Students (NOMAS), and she created, organized funding, and opened a student run supply store for the architecture students. Currently, Azizi is a member of NOMA, AIA-Indy, and volunteers as a Cadette troop leader. Azizi’s research focuses on the emotional experiences created through architecture and design as a results of incorporating art into the design process.

 

Desiree Edwards, Human Resources Generalist at Briljent

Desiree Edwards graduated from Indiana State University in May 2015 with a B.S. in Human Resource Development for Industry and Higher Education. She obtained minors in Language Studies: Spanish and Business Administration. During her time at Indiana State, Desiree gained industry experience through internships at Duke Energy, GE Aviation, and Simonton Windows and Doors. She also studied abroad at Universidad Veritas in Costa Rica. Desiree served as Secretary and President of Females in Technology during her college experience. After graduation, Desiree held positions with Simonton Windows and Doors and American Senior Communities. Recently, Desiree began her career as HR Generalist for Briljent, a woman founded organization that provides business and technology solutions. As an HR professional, Desiree strives to help employees leave a meaningful legacy.

 

Aleyda Flores, Project Engineer Specialist, Watchfire Signs

Aleyda G. Flores graduated from Indiana State University in May 2016 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering Technology. While at ISU, she was actively engaged in different student organizations, where she held different leadership roles including Vice-President of Females in Technology (FiT), and Director of Finance/Inventory for the Technology Student Leadership Council (TSLC). In her professional role as a Project Engineer Specialist, she supports the proprietary billboard operation software and provides technical assistance during installation and going forward for all LED signs. Watchfire Signs is a U.S. manufacturer for outdoor digital signs that has over 2,000 billboards installed just in the U.S., where we implement the most effective, streamlined process to create the highest quality LED signs available. Aleyda continues to support her alma mater as a mentor and a member of the FiT Advisory Council

 

Jessica Jackson, Estimating Engineer, Infrastructure & Energy Alternatives LLC

Jessica Jackson graduated from Indiana State University in May of 2010 with a B.S. in Technology Management with a focus in construction. While at ISU, Jessica served as the Construction Club secretary her sophomore year and treasurer her junior and senior years. During her junior year, Jessica served as a founding member of Females in Technology and served as vice‐president in its inaugural year and president her senior year. During Jessica’s time at Indiana State University, she was employed via the work‐study program in the John T. Myers College of Technology as well as a project engineer at Freitag‐Weinhardt, Inc. a prominent mechanical contractor in the Terre Haute area. After graduation, Jessica accepted the project engineer position at Freitag‐Weinhardt, Inc. where she assisted the project manager with several projects ranging from pipeline to pharmaceutical projects and document control. Jessica currently works for IEA Renewable Energy/White Construction, Inc. in Clinton, Indiana as an estimating engineer. In this role, Jessica assists in estimating, proposals, schedules, and bid reviews for wind energy, solar energy, DOT, civil works, and battery storage projects.

 

Megan Jackson, Technology and Engineering Teacher, West Vigo High School

Megan graduated in 2012 from Indiana State University with a B.S. in Technology and Engineering Education, minoring in Computer-Aided Design and Motorsports Management. She later returned to ISU to complete a master’s in career and technology education and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Curriculum Instruction and Media Technology. A teacher at West Vigo High School, she currently teaches construction, advanced manufacturing, production tech, and robotics. She also teaches training courses at Rose-Hulman. While a student at ISU, Megan served in several leadership roles including president of Females in Technology (FiT) and the Technology and Engineering Education Collegiate Association (TEECA). She had several great role-models and mentors who inspired her to teach, perhaps the most influential being Dr. Kara Harris at ISU. Megan continues to support her alma mater by serving as a mentor and on the Females in Technology Advisory Council.

 

Molly Joseph, Robotics Instructor, Vigo County School Corporation

Molly Joseph graduated in 2013 from Indiana State University with a B.S. in Technology and Engineering Education, minoring in Computer-Aided Design. Molly is a FIRST sponsor and a Yaskawa MERIT robotics instructor for the Vigo County School. Molly has also worked as a technology teacher at Sarah Scott Middle School, teaching 6th graders how to build rockets, 7th graders how to manufacture a product, and 8th graders how to make robots. While a student at ISU, Molly served in several leadership roles including president of Females in Technology (FiT) and the Technology and Engineering Education Collegiate Association (TEECA). She had several great role-models and mentors who inspired her to teach, perhaps the most influential being her father. Molly continues to support her alma mater by serving on the Females in Technology Advisory Council.

 

Kay Keene, Manager of Pilot Training, Republic Airlines

Kay Keene is the Manager of Pilot Training for Republic Airlines in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kay graduated from Indiana State University in May 2013 with a degree in Professional Aviation Flight Technology and Aviation Management. While attending ISU, Kay was president of Females in Technology, a member of Flight Team, and a member of Alpha Eta Rho, a professional aviation fraternity. She completed two internships, one with Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL, and the other with American Airlines in Dallas, TX. Kay has also competed in two Women’s Air Race Classic Races as Pilot in Command. She is actively supporting her alma mater by serving as a mentor and on the Female in Technology Advisory Council.

 

Shelley Klingerman, Executive Director, Launch Terre Haute

Shelley Klingerman is the Executive Director of Launch Terre Haute, a co-work space and collaborative think tank for business leaders and start-ups. She received her BS in Marketing from Indiana State University and her MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has demonstrated her progressive leadership over a 20+ year career providing marketing, brand awareness, and project management to a multitude of industry. Her entrepreneurial spirit has been captured through the opening of her own clothing boutique in Downtown Terre Haute, Indiana. Additionally, she has sat on the Boards of the Humane Association, the American Marketing Association, the Startup Ladies, the Terre Haute Economic Restructuring Committee, Downtown Terre Haute, Inc, and St. Patrick’s School.

 

Kristina Lawyer, Ph.D., Automotive and Mechanical Engineering Technology Assistant Professor, Indiana State University

Dr. Kristina Lawyer is an Assistant Professor of Automotive Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology at Indiana State. She graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2008 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. She earned her M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2012 and recently finished her Ph.D. on the use of higher carbon number alcohols in SI engine fuels. She worked at Argonne National Lab as part of her Ph.D. research during which she operated an engine dynamometer and emissions measurement equipment. Outside of her engineering career, Kristina is the driver for Lawyer Motorsports which competes in the NHRA Top Dragster class throughout the Midwest. She has been racing since she was 7 years old. In addition to racing, Kristina is an alumnae of, and the current Chapter Adviser for, the Delta Xi Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi Women’s Fraternity. Kristina serves as a strong role model for women in engineering technology and serves on the FiT Advisory Council.

 

Mary McGuire, Customer service Manager, Telamon Corporation

Mary McGuire is an Indiana State University Packaging Technology alumna. She is Customer Service Manager at Telamon Corporation in Carmel, Indiana. She has over 35 years of experience working in various operations and engineering leadership positions in the automotive and civil engineering/construction industries. Mary has provided leadership for making process improvements throughout global organizations. She has a Six Sigma Black Belt certification, Lean certification and is a certified Trainer. She has also mentored several employees throughout her career and is sharing her passion and expertise in this area by being one of the Co-Founders of ISU's Destination Success program for ISU women majoring in a STEM field. She is also on the Indiana Million Women Mentors steering team. As a student at ISU, Mary was actively involved serving as a resident assistant, president of Blue Key, Student Alumni Council, Epsilon Pi Tau, Society of Packaging Engineers, and the Homecoming committee. Mary continues to be active at her alma mater and in her community. She is an ISU Foundation Board member and Chairperson of the Committee on Director and Governance, Co-Chair of the ISU's College of Technology Executive Advisory Board and past President and Treasurer of the ISU Alumni Association. In her community, she is a mentor at Pike High School and a member at Hazel Dell Christian Church in Carmel, Indiana.

 

Amanda Muhammad, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Textiles, Apparel, and Merchandising, Indiana State University

Dr. Amanda Muhammad is an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for the College of Technology's Textiles, Apparel, and Merchandising (TAM) Program. Dr. Muhammad graduated for the University of Missouri with a doctorate in Human Environmental Sciences. Her background includes career and educational experiences related to merchandising, retail, accounting and mathematics teaching. As a professor in the TAM program, Dr. Muhammad’s research and teaching focuses on retail management and entrepreneurship with special interest in understanding women’s use of small businesses as well as elevating women and girls. Additionally, Dr. Muhammad is one of the founding members of the social enterprise, Global Women’s Empowerment (GoWE). The goal of GoWE members is to use their knowledge of the global textile and apparel industry to develop curriculum and assist micro and small business owners in developing countries.

 

Carolyn Pfrank, Senior Packaging Engineer, Baxter Pharmaceuticals

Carolyn Pfrank graduated from Indiana State University in 2005 with a degree in Packaging Technology. She supports her alma mater by serving as a mentor and on the Advisory Council for Females in Technology. Carolyn is a Senior Packaging Engineer for Baxter Pharmaceutical Solutions, a contract pharmaceutical manufacturer which produces clinical and commercial vials, syringes, and cartridges. To fulfill each client's packaging needs, from the individual unit to pallet level, she works with multiple vendors as well as the internal Production and Validation teams. Outside of work, Carolyn trains her two Border Terriers for a variety of performance events and is involved in the Indiana 4-H Dog program.

 

Riem Rostom,Ph.D., Instructor Mechanical Engineering Technology, Indiana State University

Dr. Riem Rostom is a full-time lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Indiana State University. She graduated from Alexandria University in Egypt with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2004. Speaking five languages she worked as a translator at the German Consulate, then became a Branch Manager for the American Chamber of Commerce. In 1999 she immigrated to the US with her husband. She worked as an elementary teacher in New Jersey, and a part-time drafting engineer where she combined both her passion in teaching and engineering. She went back to school and earned her M.S. in energy conservation from North Carolina A & T State University in 2010. Then she continued her studies and earned her Ph.D. from North Carolina A & T State University in 2015 in Energy and Environmental Studies.

 

Kassandra Smith, Mechanical Design Engineer, Ice-O-Matic

Kassandra Smith graduated from Indiana State University in May 2016, with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology, minoring in Advanced Manufacturing Technology and Automation & Controls Engineering Technology. Throughout her college career, Kassandra gained automation experience as an intern for Autoliv, and manufacturing experience at Simonton Windows & Doors. After moving to Colorado in the summer of 2016, Kassandra accepted a position as a mechanical designer with IceOMatic. She has held various roles in project management, lean manufacturing, and process improvements prior to her current product design role. She was a member and held multiple leadership positions in Females in Technology for the four years of her college career along with being involved with multiple College of Technology organizations.

 

Tammy Tucker, Civil AE Programs Quality Manager, Rolls-Royce

As AE Program Quality Manager at Rolls-Royce Corporation in Indianapolis, Tammy is responsible for the success of the Civil Small & Medium Engine Customer OEM Quality and Services. She manages all elements of these programs including production, sustainment, product delivery, and improvement programs. Tammy is also a member of Rolls-Royce Women in North America (RRWNA) group. She began employment with Rolls-Royce at LibertyWorks in 2007 as a Project Engineer Specialist within Experimental Assembly and Test working ADVENT. Most recently, she was an integral member of the CSME AE Programs Services Business team where she managed Lifecycle Costs and resultant aftermarket profitability. Prior to Rolls-Royce, Tammy spent over 15 years in the automotive industry where she has vast experience in Manufacturing, Quality, and Process Improvement. She holds her master’s degree in Engineering Management from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and her B.S. in Mechanical Technology from Indiana State University. Tammy is supporting her alma mater by serving on the Females in Technology Advisory Council

 

Edie Wittenmyer, Instructor, Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology, Indiana State University

Edie Wittenmyer is an instructor in the College of Technology at Indiana State University. Prior to coming to ISU, she was the Senior Application Analyst Engineer at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. She graduated from Indiana State University in August 1998 with a Masters in Electronics and Computer Technology. She is currently teaching classes for Advanced Computer Components and Industrial Electronic Pulse Circuits. Edie is also a business owner in Marshall, IL, with expertise in textiles and merchandising.Wittenmyer is an instructor in the College of Technology at Indiana State University.Edie serves as a strong role model and mentor for women in engineering technology and serves on the FiT Advisory Council.

 

LaShae Wooden, Human Resources Generalist, MDwise

LaShae Wooden is a recent ISU alumna with a B.S. in Human Resource Development. While at ISU, she was involved with the Student African American Sisterhood, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Technology Student Leadership Council. During her undergraduate year, she completed three Human Resources internships (Speedway, LLC in summer 2013, GE Aviation in Spring 2014 and MDwise, Inc. in Summer 2014) to understand and experience the various roles in human resources. As a Human Resources Generalist, her responsibilities include selection and staffing; facilitating pre-hire and new hire processes, organizing and maintaining department procedures, materials and information, identifying areas of improvement, and providing counsel to associates as needed.

 

Mariah Wright, Project Engineer, Hunt Construction

Mariah Wright graduated from Indiana State University in May of 2016 with a B.S. in Construction Management and a minor in Spanish. While at ISU, she was a presidential scholar and she also served as the secretary and president of the Construction Club, the vice president of Sigma Lamda Chi (the professional Construction Management fraternity), and an advisor to the Master Plan Committee. While in school, Mariah received various internships including Thompson Thrift Construction and Pepper Construction. After graduation, Wright accepted a position with Hunt Construction Group – An AECOM Company and is currently located in Columbus, Ohio working for as an MEP project engineer. She soon plans to transfer to Houston, Texas to assist in the construction of the $1.2 billion healthcare project, CHI Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Hospital. Mariah recently received her certification from the Federal Aviation Association as a Remote Pilot and assists in flying the drone on her jobsite. As well she recently received her Healthcare Construction Certificate (HCC). She also continues to support her alma mater as a member of the Construction Management Advisory Board.

 

Ashlyn Yocom, Supplier Quality Engineer, North American Lighting

Ashlyn Yocom graduated in 2015 from Indiana State University with a B.S. in Technology Management and minors in Advanced Manufacturing Management and Lean Six Sigma. While at ISU, Ashlyn was an instructional assistant to Dr. McLeod tutoring for SIMCO and Production Planning and Control courses, and also worked at the Math & Writing Center tutoring mathematics. During her time at ISU she presented 3D printing technology presentations to elementary students and was an active member in Females in Technology. Shortly after graduating ISU, she started her professional career at Corporate Headquarters - North American Lighting, Inc. (NAL) in Paris, Illinois. NAL is a member of the Japan-based Koito family of companies and is the leading Tier 1 supplier manufacturer of automotive lighting products. Within her first year at the company as a Supplier Quality Engineer, Ashlyn assisted in the development and improvement of her assigned supplier to which was recognized as NAL’s Most Improved Supplier during the company’s annual Supplier Conference in 2016. Ashlyn continues to support her alma mater by serving on the FiT Advisory Council.
