Placement Exams

The University's Placement Examination Program enables eligible students to receive advanced placement in selected areas of study.

Currently the following placement examinations are offered:

There is no charge to students who wish to take placement exams.

Foreign Language Profiency Examinations

All entering students who are exempt from the Basic Studies Foreign Language Requirement - but who wish to continue language study - are required to take the Foreign Language Placement Test in order to determine the level of language course work most appropriate for them. Students may receive elective credits for their knowledge of the language.

  • Cost:  None
  • Testing Location:  Testing Lab (Erickson Hall, room 230)
  • Scheduling:  Contact the University Testing Office at (812) 237-7666 or testing@indstate.edu

Mathematics (COMPASS)

The Math Placement Test (COMPASS) is designed to place students in the right mathematics course for their chosen majors so that they are ready to succeed.

  • Cost:  None
  • Testing Location:  Testing Lab (Erickson Hall, room 230)
