Julie Dixon is head of acting at the ISU Department of Theater and the founder of Fat Girls Theatre.  Formerly she taught acting, directing and theater literature at California State University, Long Beach, where she received her MFA in Acting and the Graduate Dean's List for University Scholars and Artists Award in 2001. She received her BA from Mount Holyoke College where she was a regional finalist for the Irene Ryan Award. She has also studied with Shakespeare & Co.


Julie is a member of the Actor's Equity Association.  A native of New Jersey, she has spent time training and working in theatres in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, California, and most recently, Indiana.  In Indiana, she has appeared at CrossRoads Repertory Theatre Company, the Phoenix Theatre and the Indianapolis Fringe Festivals in Indianapolis, and the Shawnee Summer Theatre in Bloomfield.
