Caution! Men Flying

Ever dream of flying but thought airplanes were too complicated or scary? This workshop will show you that the only scary thing about flying is when the men are in the cockpit! We are going to give you an introduction to the cockpit of a small airplane and the ISU simulators. Girls will be shown how the simulators work and even get a chance to fly them!.
When Pigs Fly

Ms. Piggy, the crash test dummy, needs to get from the top floor to the bottom floor without the aid of stairs or elevator. Teams will construct a secure contraption that will keep her from damaging any of her parts while making the trip down.

If you like to solve problems by thinking outside of the box, this one's for you. Your team will use limited materials in a limited amount of time to create the longest hanging span using minimal supporting objects, not including the ceiling.

A key principle in designing a package often involves selling the product inside the package to the customer. Teams will be given a variety of unusual photos for which to create a picture frame (the package) that will help sell the images.

Watch Where You Sit

Which are stronger: squares, triangles or circles? By building a chair out of a common household material, students will explore the difference in using different shapes as well as using important problem solving skills, and hopefully at the end, have a nice new chair to sit on, if they can make it stand alone!
Lights! Camera! Action!

Ever wonder what takes place in the creation of a movie? Teams will get to film and create their own video showcase of this year's FIT Conference. Computer software will be used to modify the videos to make them into creative movies, which will be played at the end of the conference!
NOTE: This workshop will count for 2 workshops. Students will not be able to sign up for any other workshops.
