Career Exploration Workshops:

Technology Education
Technology teachers are in high demand and work with exciting, hands-on, minds-on activities. In this workshop you will explore laboratory activities that cut across areas of transportation, construction, manufacturing, communication, and biotechnology. If teaching elementary, middle school, or high school students is a career you’re considering, attend this workshop to find out more about the changing and challenging field of technology education

Packaging Protection and Design
This diverse field is open to a wide range of career options in the packaging industry – from artistic to engineering. Industry is paying top salaries to professionals who can creatively solve packaging problems and design packaging improvements. In this workshop you’ll learn how packaging designs are tested and designed.
Information Technology
From database managers to programmers to network engineers to web application specialists –  information technology (IT) professionals are in high demand. Covering a wide variety of occupational areas, you can choose an area of emphasis that fits your interest. This session will help you understand and explore what’s available in IT.
Electronics Technology
Get a feel for the latest in electronics software or automation processes.  This hands-on experience will get you involved in some of the latest technology used to design computers and complex systems.
Construction Management
Today’s construction business is high-tech. If you like challenges and enjoy working with your hands as well as your head, attend this workshop. There will be several hands-on activities to choose from that will give you some insight into today’s construction industry.
Computer-Integrated Manufacturing
Moving a product from idea to the marketplace is not the same as it used to be. Computer-Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) uses storage and retrieval systems that “talk to” industrial robots and other computerized machinery. In this workshop you’ll explore the modern assembly line and discover the possibilities of careers in modern manufacturing.
Computer-Aided Design and 3-D Solid Modeling
See how industry is designing the products you buy. Using the latest software you will have the opportunity to generate your own 3-D Solid Model, rotate it, calculate the weight and surface area, and produce a hard copy.
Automotive Technology
If you like automobiles and would like to be a part of management, testing, or production development in this exciting industry, attend this workshop. Experience hands-on activities dealing with modern automobiles and today’s high-tech automotive industry.
Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)
In this workshop you’ll be part of a tabletop gaming exercise where you make the decisions. Learn what it’s like to be part of a team, to make decisions, and to be a leader. Our leadership training prepares you to be an officer in the United States Air Force. ROTC offers a variety of career options, some of which use the most advanced equipment and technology in the world.
Aerospace Technology
Come along and explore one of the exciting fields in the aerospace industry. Problem-solving, communications, and simulations are just a few of the activities used to train professional pilots and aerospace managers.
What Kind of Experience Can Your Students Expect?

• Interactive Workshops
Small group, hands-on workshops give your students a chance to experience a variety of different types of technology careers. Your students will have an opportunity to select several areas of interest to explore.

• Student-to-Student Contact
Meet our Technology Career Advocates!  Some of our best and brightest students will offer insights and perspectives on how they made career decisions, what college life is all about, and which programs can best prepare your students for a career in technology.

• Campus Exposure
We take pride in our recently renovated campus and our relatively new John T. Myers Technology Center. Your students will eat lunch in one of our resident halls. The Sycamore Towers offers our student visitors a wide selection of choices at a reduced cost – ALL THEY CAN EAT food court style.
