Industry representatives will facilitate discussions on developing and enhancing partnerships between education and industry. This hour long, afternoon session from 12:30-1:30 offers teachers time to explore three different industries or agencies in a "round robin" format.

Applied Extrusion Technologies: Larry Mauer
AET is the largest North American manufacturer and supplier of Oriented Polypropylene, or OPP films, which are used primarily in consumer product labeling, flexible packaging and overwrap applications. AET has a leading position in most of the major high-end OPP films and end-use product categories in North America.
End users of AET films are consumer product companies whose labels and packaging require special attributes such as vivid graphics, exceptional clarity, and moisture barriers to preserve freshness. AET’s films are utilized by end users such as Coca Cola, Pepsi-Cola, Frito-Lay, Nabisco, Kellogg’s, Hershey Foods, Sony, and Lipton.
AET is headquartered in New Castle. DE with manufacturing facilities in Terre Haute, IN and Varennes, Canada and a pilot line in Covington, VA.
Larry Mauer is a graduate of Rose Hulman Institute of Technology. He has worked in a variety of manufacturing roles in the plastics and converting industry over the past 28 years. He has worked for AET in Terre Haute the past 12 years. He currently serves as Director of Tenter Operations in Terre Haute.
Columbian Home Products: William (Bill) Carper
CHP is a porcelain-on-steel cookware manufacturer that has been operating under a variety of names in Terre Haute since 1902. The large majority of products sold by CHP are manufactured in Terre Haute, and major customers included Wal-Mart, Target, Kmart, the U.S. military, and a large number of other domestic and international customers. CHP owes it success to the men and women working in the facility, and to an overall attitude of continuous improvement toward maintaining and improving quality, and reducing operating costs to provide the best quality and cost to consumers. William (Bill) Carper has enjoyed a career in a variety of manufacturing disciplines including automotive component machining and assembly, aluminum processing, paint manufacturing, and container and cookware fabrication, packaging, and distribution. He has worked as a supervisor in manufacturing, quality, and maintenance; directed plant engineering and maintenance operations; and managed single and multiple manufacturing and distribution operations for fortune 100 companies and privately owned businesses. He has been the Vice President of Operations for Columbian Home Products in Terre Haute since 2001.
Reel Time Logistics: John Turner
Real Time Logistics is a 3PL company headquartered at 1077 Hunt Street in Terre Haute. It has been in business for 5 years and has recently located on a 30 acre private industrial park on the west side of the Hulman International Airport. At this new location we have a 37,500 square foot building designed for warehousing, cross docking and light manufacturing services. Our logistic operations management team is also at this site. Reel Time Logistics provides transportation, warehousing, cross docking, packaging, manufacturing parts inspection, and consulting services targeted at the manufacturers and distribution companies. Major companies using Reel Time Logistics services include Cummins and Dick's Sporting Goods.
John Turner has a Bachelor Science Degree, Indiana State University and a Masters Degree, Indiana State University, School of Technology in Professional Industrial Management. His professional career experience includes over 30 years in manufacturing operations, warehousing/ transportation, retail development, trade show management, marketing/sales and project development and management.
Sony Digital Audio Disk Corporation: Bryant Wolfe
Sony DADC is the leading manufacturer of disc media in the world, with multiple locations throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan, Canada, and South America. This is the 25th year of operation for the Terre Haute, IN location. DADC products include CDs, UMDs, PlayStation 2 & 3 Videogames, DVDs, and Blu-Ray Discs. The Terre Haute facilities occupy over 2.2 million square feet on both the east and west sides of Fruitridge Avenue and employs approximately 1350 employees. Sony DADC operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while adhering to our internally developed KPIs.
Bryant Wolfe is a member of Generation Y and is a graduate of West Vigo High School as well as Indiana University. He is currently working on a masters in Human Resource Development at Indiana State University. Bryant worked in shipping and distribution at Frito-Lay for 3 years and has been with DADC as an OPTM/HR Specialist for the past 2 years.
D&D Automation, Inc.: David Decker
D&D Automation offers services such as CNC Machining, CNC Machine Programming, Jig & Fixture Tooling, Three Dimensional Proto-Type Machining, Design & developing automated processes including tooling & assemble operations. Our facility is a medium scale machining operation that provides many services including CNC mill and lathe machining, 3-D milling, fabrication and welding. We also provide on-site repair and maintenance service. Since 1989, D&D Automation has served a variety of small manufactures to corporations all around the country. Some of the industries we currently serve include: automotive electronics, steel rolling mills, plastics (thermo formed tooling) and pharmaceutical. Our facility is located south of Terre Haute next to the new industrial park. This strategic location gives us an edge economically to provide speedy accurate service to our local industrial park customers.
David Decker graduated from West Vigo High School and from Indiana State University with a B.S. in Electronics. After graduation, he worked with Illinois Tool Works as a field engineer.
DesAcc: Walter Balcavage
DesAcc Inc. is a leading medical software engineering company founded in 1993 in Terre Haute. The company’s products are currently in use at more than 5,000 healthcare facilities in more than 30 countries. DesAcc provides software products and data conversion services that are used for storage, presentation and review of digital medical images such as from an X-ray or MR scanners. The company partners with the American College of Radiology for MRI certifications. Currently DesAcc is designing new applications that address medical document workflow in conjunction with Adobe Systems Incorporated. The company is also expanding DesAcc’s Medical Imaging Service Bureau through enhanced marketing efforts. The company operates world-wide.
Walter Balcavage has a B.S. degrees from Franklin & Marshall College, an M.S. degree from the University of Delaware, a thesis res from the University of Delaware, and also obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Delaware. Walter's previous academic appointments include a professor of Biochemistry at the Indiana University School of Medicine, an adjunct Professor at Indiana State University, and an assistant Director of Research at the IU School of Medicine- Terre Haute.
Center for Business Support and Economic Innovation: Richard Pittelkow
CBSEI’s mission is to engage with business to provide commercialization services utilizing ISU expertise and resources while providing students with experiential learning opportunities. CBSEI services include business and technology assistance with market research, marketing plans, business plans, grants and incentives, financing, attracting investors, office space, lab space, and administrative support. CBSEI facilitates the development, marketing, protection, and licensing of new technologies with market potential.
Richard Pittelkow holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Marquette University in Milwaukee. Richard is currently the interim director for the Center for Business Support (CBSEI) replacing Chris Pfaff who was activated to serve in Afghanistan for a year with the Indiana National Guard. Richard has worked in the family Savings & Loan business, as a Commercial Manager and President of Bunge Corporation, Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking for Old National Bank and before coming ISU spent a few years as a Business Consultant and Business Broker for entrepreneurs wanting to start their own business.
