Competitive Events of 2009

Please assign 4 members per team. In the event of a number not divisible by 4. We can accept teams of 3 or 5.

Technology Bowl

Offered as a separate event at the end of the day, this Jeopardy-style competitive playoff tests students’ knowledge about manufacturing, construction, transportation, and communications. Enter your best team in this one and go home with the traveling trophy (defended by last year’s champs, Greenfield Central High School).

Awesome Automaton

In this project teams will have three challenges that will be completed through the use of a Microbot robot via the internet, an Adept robot, and Programmable Logic Controls (PLC’s).

Comical Contraption Challenge

Teams must plan, design, and build a Rube Goldberg contraption that ends with a toy car rolling away from the contraption by using seven different steps. .

Crack It or Pack It

Your team is to design, build, present, and test an apparatus using the fewest materials possible that will safely transport a fragile object from a death defying fall.

Design Dilemma

Using the supplies given, you and your team will create a prototype of a locker organizer to be used in a school corporation.

Duct Tape Fanatic

As a fashion designer you and your team will design clothing directed towards a central audience. Your fabric of choice: duct tape!

Faster Dragster

Your team will have a limited amount of time to design and fabricate a dragster that will be fast enough to beat the opponent’s car.

Graphic Groupies

Teams will develop a billboard that will promote the group, band, or individual singer of your team's choice.

Invent It

Teams will sketch and build a projectile machine that will launch a ping pong ball across the table so that the future Olympian can have someone to practice with.

Junk Yard Genius

Teams will design and construct an apparatus from materials found in the junk yard to fly an object.

Rescue Mission

Plan and produce a technological system to conduct an emergency retrieval task. Hosted by Air Force ROTC

Space Creators

Your job is to create a space station that accommodates living conditions for humans and will cater to their daily needs. Hosted by Females in Technology

Structure of Strength

Sketch, design, and build the strongest model tower possible for a large construction company.

Towers of Terror

Your team’s mission is to plan and construct the tallest tower out of various types of paper-based materials and a limited supply of masking tape.

Viral Video

Create a 15 to 25 second video that explains why you have the top technology and engineering education teacher in the nation. In this challenge all work is done prior to arriving at Tech TREK.  Instructions are provided as a PDF link here.
