Creating Hotspots to Your Images
Introduction
Hotspots provide another form of hyperlinking, one that permits assigning
different URL's to different parts of a picture. Another name for hotspots is
image map areas. Hotspots can be used for any application that requires
jumping to different locations by clicking different areas of a picture.
The following are the instructions to add hotspots to an image/picture using
FrontPage 2002:
1. Open the webpage that contains the picture, and click the
picture once to select it.

2. Under the 'View' menu, go to 'Toolbars' and click on 'Pictures'. Items in
the pictures toolbar are highlighted when the picture/image is selected.

3. Click the Rectangular Hotspot, Circular Hotspot, or Polygonal Hotspot
button on the Pictures toolbar which are located towards the end of the
toolbar.

4a. When using the Rectangular or Circular Hotspot tools, drag the mouse
pointer over the portion of the picture that should define the hotspot.

4b. When using the Polygon tool, draw the polygon by clicking the
mouse pointer at each corner of the desired shape. To close the polygon,
double-click the next-to-last point, and FrontPage draws the final line to the
starting point.

5. When dragging is complete, FrontPage opens the Insert Hyperlink dialog
box, type in the URL in the address box and click on OK. Following the above
steps creates a hyperlink to a portion of the image.
6. Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 to define additional hotspots thereby creating
additional hyperlinks for the
same picture. |
