Homecoming

Indiana State University Alumni and Friends,

Homecoming 2019 is almost here! We hope you have marked your calendar and finalized your plans to return to campus to participate in Homecoming events. Homecoming is our largest annual gathering of ISU alumni, students, friends and family; and one of my favorite times of the year.

The Student Homecoming Committee has planned on-campus events throughout the week: Monday, October 7 – Friday, October 11. Check out the full listing of campus events on the Calendar of Events to join us. I hope you make plans to attend the, Sycamore Tricycle Race (Trike Race) on Friday, October 11 at 4:00 p.m.

The Homecoming celebration will continue on Saturday, October 12 with the nation’s longest, student-run parade at 9:00 a.m. After the Blue and White Parade, head to Memorial Stadium for Tent City and the football game. Here are some details you will need to know for your Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Relocating Tent City inside Memorial Stadium will provide a family-friendly environment and an opportunity to mingle with alumni and friends throughout the game. Your game ticket provides access to Tent City.

  • Don’t forget to stop by the Alumni Tent and visit the college and unit tents in Tent City! The Alumni Tent offers a complimentary lunch (served until kick-off), a cash bar and fun give-away items. While at the Alumni Tent you can join the Alumni Association, meet members of the ISU Alumni Association Board and pick up your souvenir cup. Current Alumni Association members (formerly known as Blue Card Club) will receive an exclusive Homecoming gift. You are welcome to join the Alumni Association the day of Homecoming, but I encourage you to JOIN beforehand so you can easily grab your special gift as a member of the Alumni Association. Please make sure you bring your Alumni Association membership card with you!
  • Groups and organizations not located in Tent City will be celebrating Homecoming in the expanded tailgate area. In addition, several of our fraternity, sorority and other alumni/student groups are planning gatherings on campus or at their respective houses. Please continue to check the Calendar of Events for more details.

The Sycamore Football game is sure to be the highlight of the weekend. After a successful 2018 season, MVFC Coach of the Year, Curt Mallory led the team to a 7-4 finish that ranked our program #22 nationally. Indiana State will host MVC rival Western Illinois; kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you in the stadium cheering on our Sycamores!

While visiting our alma mater and enjoying Homecoming weekend, please take time to look around campus. Our campus continues to improve with new construction and ongoing renovations. If you have not been back to campus for a few years, you will enjoy the changes taking place at Indiana State. I look forward to seeing you at Homecoming!

Go Sycamores!
