Laura Brassie, '13

Laura BrassieHello students and alumni! I absolutely loved my time at ISU and in the Honors Program. After I graduated, I went on to complete my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. During my last year, I was connected to a Grace alum who was starting up a private practice near Denver, Colorado, so I went out to visit and loved it. I ended up getting jobs with the practice and at a psychiatric hospital and moved to Denver in June 2015. I worked at the hospital and saw clients at the practice about once a week for almost a year. After that, I accepted a new position working for UCHealth in their Northern Colorado hospitals, which is where I am today. I now live in Fort Collins, CO. I work in a few different local emergency rooms, performing psychiatric assessments with patients in crisis. I’m working on the clinical hours and supervision required by Colorado, and hope to be a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the end of this summer. After that, who knows! In my free time, I love hiking in the mountains, exploring Colorado, spending time with my boyfriend and friends, welcoming visitors from the Midwest, and trying new coffee shops :) Since I’ve been here, I’ve successfully bagged 3 14ers, Colorado’s famous 14,000ft peaks (Greys, Torreys, and Bierstadt, if you’re interested)! I graduated from ISU in 2013 with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Music.
