Kristin Mountz, '09

Kristen MountzUpon graduating from Indiana State University in 2009, I began teaching on the Navajo Nation in Pinon, Arizona. I worked closely with Greg Bierly and the Honors Department to create the ISU Cross Cultural Excursion. We invited honors students to visit and learn about the Navajo Nation, as well as get to know Navajo students and families. We even brought a group of Pinon students to visit Terre Haute. They attended college classes, visited Candles Museum, met with President Bradley, and hosted a Navajo Culture Presentation at Cunningham Memorial Library. One of the Pinon students was so impacted by the experience, he is now attending Indiana State!

Aside from teaching, I met my husband and started our family while living on the reservation. In 2013, we relocated to Central Arizona. Since then, I have earned my Master's in Higher Education from Northern Arizona University and teach at Central Arizona College.
