GH 301: Philosophy of the Absurd
In this course, we will study the philosophical, socio-political and aesthetic dimensions of the concept of absurdity. We will examine themes such as hope and despair, loneliness and meaninglessness, memory and forgetting. Our task will be to use the analytic tools of philosophy to clarify and develop the philosophical content of the fiction we will read. We will sharpen our skills in the philosophical analysis of literature to create deeper appreciation of the philosophical issues embedded in literature.
