Admissions Requirements

The online Elementary Education Transition to Teaching Program is open to eligible students in the U.S. (including the District of Columbia and all U.S. territories). The program is closed to students residing in countries other than the U.S. except for U.S. military and State Department personnel and their family members with APO/FPO addresses.

The Indiana Department of Education establishes the admission criteria for Transition to Teaching programs.

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum requirements.

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution
  • An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale; - or -
  • An undergraduate GPA of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 point scale and five (5) years of professional experience; - or -
  • Proof of passing the state approved content area examination(s) for elementary education. For information about content area exams, visit ETS.
