Admission

All exhibitions, lectures, and receptions are free and open to the public. There is no admission fee.

The University Art Gallery is located on the Indiana State University campus at the corner of 7th and Chestnut streets. We are conveniently located near downtown Terre Haute along the 7th Street Arts Corridor, just four blocks north of 7th & Wabash - the "Crossroads of America."

Directions & Parking

Transit

A number of transit routes run as close as a block away from the UAG, and the Cherry Street multi-modal transfer center and parking garage is only two blocks away. See the map above for suggested stop locations and the exact location of the transfer center.

Bicycle

The UAG is easily accessible via bicycle.

There are bike lanes along 7th Street, and a number of bicycle racks are available in the vicinity of the Center for Performing & Fine Arts. See the map above for nearby bike rack locations. Also, ISU has published a comprehensive map of bike parking and service stations on campus.

Driving

TRAVELING EAST ON INTERSTATE 70:

  • Take Exit 7 (U.S. 41) and turn north.
  • Travel 2.5 miles to Wabash Avenue.
  • Turn right (east) on Wabash Avenue.
  • Travel to Seventh Street (stoplight).
  • Turn left and travel four blocks to Chestnut Street.

TRAVELING WEST ON INTERSTATE 70:

  • Take Exit 7 (U.S. 41) and turn right (north).
  • Travel 2.5 miles to Wabash Avenue.
  • Travel to Seventh Street (stoplight).
  • Turn left and travel four blocks to Chestnut Street.

TRAVELING SOUTH ON U.S. 41:

  • Turn left (east) onto Ohio Street and travel to Seventh Street (stoplight).
  • Turn left and travel five blocks to Chestnut Street.

TRAVELING NORTH ON U.S. 41:

  • Turn right (east) onto Wabash Avenue and travel to Seventh Street (stoplight).
  • Turn left and travel four blocks to Chestnut Street.

Parking

The map above highlights some of the more convenient parking locations near the UAG.

Tours

Group tours – of current exhibitions, permanent art collection works in Stalker Hall, and sculpture across campus – are available free of charge. Tours must be scheduled at least one month prior to the proposed date. School groups, clubs, civic organizations, etc. may request a tour. The length of tours varies according to each group’s schedule. Tour times are not limited to gallery hours.

Accessibility

The University Art Gallery is committed to making its programs accessible to as many individuals as possible. The Landini Center for Performing and Fine Arts, including its restrooms, is fully ADA compliant. The Gallery and Music Recital Hall, where lectures take place, are on the ground floor of the Center. There are no steps to the building’s entrances or within the gallery space or the Recital Hall. The main entrances to the building, corner of Chestnut and 7th Streets and near the Fine Arts Building, are automated. Large print exhibition labels are available upon request.
