Career Readiness Faculty Champions

Career Readiness Faculty Champions are faculty who have demonstrated a commitment to developing the career readiness of our students through their teching, scholarship, and/or service. Career Readiness Faculty Champions may proactively help students explore career options, network with professionals, apply to graduate school, prepare for job interviews, gain experience through internships, or engage in other supportive actions. The main criteria is that you are actively engaged in helping students reach their career goals. The network is open to all faculty.

The purpose of the network is to:

  • Showcase faculty who are engaged in exemplary work related to career readiness
  • Seek faculty input, advocacy, and advice on the programs and priorities of the Career Center and University wide career readiness efforts
  • Foster productive connections between faculty from across the University to better advance our career readiness priorities
  • Engage faculty in professional development and mini-grant opportunities related to career readiness

The Career Center has outstanding programs and services, but Career Center staff do not have the same level of deep engagement with students that our faculty do. Faculty are highly committed to preparing their students for life after graduation, but may not have the resources or expertise to fully prepare students for their careers. Networking programs, like this one, are recognized as a best practice in career services because they join the two groups together in service for the betterment of our students.

The Career Readiness Faculty Champions program is designed to engage faculty and Career Center staff in productive work that is not overly burdensome on time or resources. The requirements of Career Readiness Faculty Champions are:

  • Engage in at least one networking meeting each semester
  • Participate in at least one related professional development program annually
  • Integrate career readiness into at least one aspect of your work: a class, advising, co-curricular activities, etc.
  • Promote Career Center programs and resources to Indiana State University students and faculty colleagues
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to the Career Center regarding programs and services
  • Provide profile and contact information for feature on the Career Center website, social media, and other communication platforms
