Erich Kendall attended Indiana State University from 2005-2009; he graduated cum laude with a degree in Music Education in the Fall of 2009.
After completing his degree, Erich was hired mid-year to be the choir director at North Clay Middle School in Brazil, Indiana. In the five years Erich taught there, he grew the department from 60 to 350 students. His choirs received frequent Gold Ratings at ISSMA Events and performed at numerous venues throughout the Wabash Valley. While teaching at North Clay, Erich was also a percussion instructor for the Northview Knights and the JV Baseball Coach. He was also the Director of Music at Centenary UMC, where he conducted for four years.
In 2015, Erich returned home to Southern Indiana to become the Director of Choirs at Southridge Middle and High School. Under his direction the choirs have received Gold Ratings at State Qualifications Contest despite being one of the smallest schools to compete at that level. At Southridge he has increased the size of the choir department by 20%. Erich is also the Musical Director, Percussion Director, and The Middle School Technology Trainer. He is a highly active judge and clinician throughout the state, at events like Circle the State With Song and ISSMA Contests. Erich is also an in demand performer in the area, performing works such as Mozart’s Regina Ceoli and Handel’s Messiah.
While attending ISU, he participated in many activities throughout the School of Music. Erich performed with the Concert Choir, Sycamore Singers, Opera Workshop, Masterworks Chorale, Marching Band, Basketball Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra. Erich was the Section Leader of the ISU Drumline for 4 years and was a student conductor for Concert Choir for one year. He is also a proud Alum. of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity where he was the music director. Most importantly, he forged bonds between himself, staff, students, and community that he will cherish forever.
While not doing musical things, Erich enjoys spending time with his wife Jessica (2009 graduate of ISU College of Education) and their two boys Russell and Cooper. These usually include playing baseball and going to Holiday World where he is a designer in the Entertainment Department.
