Amanda Melberg Layson is an Analytical Chemist at MPD, Inc. where she is an integral part of quality assurance.  She inspects products for anomalies using scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy.  She performs trace metal analyses with a microwave plasma atomic emission spectrometer using methods she developed.

Amanda has a decade of industry experience; she has extensive knowledge in flame atomic absorption spectroscopy, gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy.

Amanda graduated from Indiana State University (class of 2008) with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry.  During her time at ISU she worked on four undergraduate research projects under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer K. Inlow and Dr. William H. Flurkey III.
