Graduate Music Graduation Information, Forms, and Policies

All graduate music students must complete 34 credits of graduate course work to
qualify for graduation. In addition to meeting the academic requirements of the pro-
gram’s concentration, a graduate music student, if appropriate, must

  • present a formal recital (music performance concentration) or
  • present a formal concert (conducting concentration) or
  • author an original paper (music education concentration)

The successful defense of the Oral Comprehensive Examination completes the gradu-
ation requirements for the School of Music. Download the Graduation Procedures Checksheet to keep a record of completed material.

The School of Music notifies the College of Graduate and Professional Studies via a
Contract of Study that the graduate student has met all degree requirements for the
conducting (choral or wind) concentration, the music education concentration, or
the music performance concentration on the M.M. degree in Music. The Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Music prepares and submits this Contract of Study to the College of Graduate and Professional Studies.
