Expertise and Activity Statement
Dr. Buchanan is native of northern California. He is a graduate of California Baptist University, Riverside, California (BA English, history); Baylor University, Waco, Texas (MPPA); and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Tennessee (PhD political science). Dr. Buchanan served as a program manager in local government service in Texas before entering academia. He has been on faculty at ISU since 2001, as both assistant and associate professor. He served as director of the MPA program in the department from 2002 through 2016, and is currently chairing the department.
