When confronted with choosing an issue to raise awareness for, I wanted to pick a subject that weighed heavily on my heart.  Threatened and endangered species have always been an issue that I feel tremendously for, this is what sparked the initial inspiration for these posters.  I wanted to create something eye-catching that would draw people in and make them take a closer look.  The animal serves as the main focus, but the background is actually the important information.  The background illustrates the approximate number, of the featured animal, that are currently left in the wild.  This is to get people to think about the animals that are on the brink of extinction.  As for the design, I was inspired by a 1920s era German zoo poster that showed simplified animals in black set against a single background color.  This is a project that I hope to continue with, designing more posters to show how seriously threatened some species are.

Morgan Ader will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with a Graphic Design concentration.
