What is the It’s On Blue initiative?

In the spring of 2015, Indiana State University joined a nationwide campaign called It’s On Us - a campaign focused on sexual misconduct prevention. In August 2015, ISU launched the It’s On Blue initiative. It’s On Blue focuses on creating a campus culture of care, safety, and support.

One aspect of the It’s On Blue initiative is completion of an online education and prevention program by students and employees. To date, over 13,000 students and 1800 employees have completed the training.

Why do I have to take this training?

In June, 2015, the ISU Board of Trustees adopted Policy 922 Prohibiting Sexual Misconduct, Intimate Partner Violence, and Stalking. All students and employees of Indiana State University are required to participate in a mandatory training and prevention program related to reporting and prevention of sexual misconduct, intimate partner violence, and stalking.

Maintaining a safe, supportive campus means that we must ensure that all members of the community are aware of policies, procedures, and resources for the prevention of sexual harassment, assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.

ISU has engaged Everfi as our partner to provide an online education program for students and employees. Everfi offers an undergraduate student course, a graduate course, and a course for ISU employees.

When does this training have to be completed?

For students, the training must be completed no later than September 30, 2020.

For employees, the training must be completed no later than 30 days after hire date. You can start the training at any time, by following the link provided in your ISU e-mail.

You can stop the training program at any time and return where you left off. It is an interactive program, and will require you to participate by answering various questions throughout the program. The answers to your questions are anonymous. They are not available to ISU, and are only used in aggregate form by Everfi. For a link to Everfi's privacy policy, please click here

How do I get to the training?

For staff, you must be an ISU employee to be able to access the program. You should have received an e-mail from Everfi with a welcome message and a link to the employee program.

For students, you must be a registered ISU student to be able to access the program. Go to your MYISU portal and click on the "It's On Blue" badge.

How long does this training take?

The training will take approximately 45-75 minutes depending on your reading pace. You can start the training at any time. You can stop the training program at any time and return where you left off. The more you stop and start the training program, the longer it will seem to take.

Am I really required to complete this training?

Yes. All employees should complete the training within 30 days of hire date. Supervisors should allow employees to complete the training during normal work hours.

What if I don’t have regular access to a computer?

The Office of Human Resources will assist employees to make the training available to those who don’t have regular access to a computer or need technical assistance. Please contact HR to schedule an appointment.

If I am a student and an employee, do I need to take two of these?

No. You will take only the training that is associated with your primary role at ISU. In other words, if you are an undergraduate student who works as a student employee for an ISU department, you will only take the undergraduate student program. If you are a graduate student working as a graduate assistant, you will only take the graduate student program. If you are a full-time employee who also takes either undergraduate or graduate classes, you will only take the employee training. The only exception to this general requirement is residence life student staff who have been asked to complete both the student and employee training.

What if I have other questions?

Please contact the Title IX Coordinator at itsonblue@mail.indstate.edu.

How will I be notified about the training?

All degree-seeking students will receive an email invitation and reminders in their ISU  email.

Check your ISU email for the invitation or reminder and click on "Complete the Training".
