Eugene Victor Debs is among Terre Haute¹s best known residents. He stands alone though in being the only true national figure who was born in Terre Haute and lived here his entire life. While he is known for being a five-time presidential candidate, a leader of the Socialist movement, and a pioneer labor leader, little is known about his relationship with his home town. This presentation will talk about how Terre Haute molded his character and beliefs and how locals reacted to his work and reputation.
