Description
This Halloween talk will focus on monsters in our pop culture and answer the question: why are so many of our films, comic books, and novels depicting human beings dating "monsters". From vampires and werewolves to Amphibian Man and tentacled aliens, we've seen an explosion of this kind of media. Pop culture scholar and assistant dean of students Amanda Hobson will talk about issues of gender identity, sexuality, sexism and the idea of the Other.
