Description

Unexpected developments in research are so common that we can expect them to happen, even under the most careful of preparatory and project protocol. How a researcher responds to these problems can lead to a successful modification and resumption of research, or at worst, activities resulting in a determination of "non-compliance" to the IRB submission, and adverse consequences.

Join IRB member and former IRB Chair Tom Steiger to discuss "when things have gone wrong", and the advice he would have for all investigators in next steps, and even some preventative measures. There really IS a right way and a wrong way to handle "wrong", and IRB is happy to share it.

The fourth of five sessions related to the IRB, this session will count toward a three-session requirement for a certificate of recognition. Those who participate in at least three sessions will be provided a certificate recognizing their efforts related to professional development. The certificate may be included in faculty members' annual review materials, applications for promotion and/or tenure, and Biennial Review reports or may be included in students' portfolios.

The presenter is Tom Steiger
