Description

ISU has a long history of embracing diverse groups. However, much of this history is not widely known. In celebration of Black History Month, come explore one aspect of this history on the The ISU Hidden Black History Tour.  In celebration of Black History Month and 150 Years of Black Student Achievement at ISU (1870-2020), historian Dr. Crystal Mikell Reynolds will take you on a walking tour of the history of African Americans at ISU from the unique memorabilia housed in the University’s Special Collections (Archives) to the historic murals in the AACC to the site of the student unrest on campus in the 1960s. The tour is February 21, from noon to 1:30pm. Tour will last approx. 1 and 1/2 hours. 4 Stops in all. Meet in the lobby of the Cunningham Memorial Library at noon. Refreshments served and a special gift to all participants. Space is limited (all are welcome) so register early at the link below. If there is significant interest, a second tour at another date may be arranged. Please wear comfortable shoes. Sponsored by College of Arts and Sciences, The Incorporated Gathering (African American Alumni Group), and the Sesquicentennial Committee.
