Description

The Joseph S. Schick Lecture Series welcomes Dr. Devoney Looser, Foundation Professor of English at Arizona State University, who will present ‘Jane Austen’s Nineteenth-Century Afterlives’. This event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in Root Hall A-269/270. Dr. Looser is the author of The Making of Jane Austen (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2017), a Publishers Weekly Best Summer Book (Nonfiction) and Inside Higher Ed Reader’s Choice Award Winner. Her recent work includes editing the 2018 Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility and The Daily Jane Austen (University of Chicago Press, October 2019). Dr. Looser was awarded both a John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Humanities Public Scholar Award in 2018. Her current work in progress is under contract with Bloomsbury Publishing and titled Sister Novelists: Jane and Anna Maria Porter, with publication planned for 202
