Description

HOW MILLENNIALS LEARN:  A majority of college students are of the Millennial generation.  A majority of instructors are in the Baby Boomer or Generation X eras.  Is there a generational gap in the classroom regarding teaching and learning?  How exactly do Millennials prefer to learn?  It is no surprise that faculty play an important role.  This session will target characteristics of Millennials and offer best practices for teaching this generation of learners.

TEACHING THROUGH CHALLENGING (POST-ELECTION) CONVERSATIONS:  In the wake of the 2016 presidential election, conversations surrounding concerns about discrimination, bias, and fear have become increasingly common, both in and out of the classroom.  As tensions run high, faculty members may not be fully prepared or equipped to facilitate these discussions or address student concerns and emotional responses. This session seeks to identify best practices to discuss our challenging political circumstances in such a way that benefits and welcomes all of our diverse student body.

A continental breakfast will be provided.
