Description

ISU has large numbers of students from a low income background. Research shows that such students may have a unique communication style that clashes with what is the norm in college. Representatives from a faculty and staff team who attended the Beegle Poverty Institute in Seattle this past summer are eager to engage participants on what they learned to help you be a more effective communicator, and for your students to be stronger performers. This informational and interactive workshop will enable participants to understand the oral and print styles of communicating, the latter being what characterizes the college experience; and what faculty need to help students learn and navigate. A continental breakfast will be served.
