Description
The Root Family Public Art Project is a civic-pride initiative featuring 6-foot, artistically painted Coca-Cola bottles. They will be displayed throughout the community in front of businesses and organizations to call attention to the fact that its world-famous contour design was created by Root Glass Works in Terre Haute as part of a national contest in 1915. This display is part of a larger effort coordinated by the Vigo County Historical Society to make Terre Haute known as the birthplace of the most recognizable product package² in the world. Community project volunteers Stephany Pence and Sally Whitehurst will discuss the overall goal of the project which is to support tourism, promote economic development and instill a sense of community pride.
