During the early Middle Ages there were more Christians  living east of the Euphrates ­ in Persia and in places as far distant as China, Mongolia, and India ­ than there were in Europe. Yet most people have little knowledge of the Church of the East. This talk will account for its  beginnings, its growth and its long decline, a decline which is continuing even today under the persecutions of the so-called Islamic State.
