Historic Restoration with Gayle Cook With Gayle Cook, Author and Founder of the Monroe County Historical Society Museum Cost: Free Join Gayle Cook for a look at historical restoration with a focus on what the Cook family has accomplished over the years and hope to accomplish in the future. The Cook family's first historic restoration project was the 1851 Cochran House in Bloomington, their own 1976 Bicentennial project. Their biggest undertaking was the French Lick/West Baden resort, which won the highest National Trust award in 2007. Additional preservation or renovation projects include a depot, school, mill, two country stores, an 1837 plantation complex, Normal Hall at Indiana State University and the Bloomington town square a total of approximately seventy buildings. The Cooks are also preserving or replanting 2500 forested acres in Harrison County.
