Description

With the rise of open access scholarship, some reputable open access journal publishers charge author fees to cover legitimate expenses. However, because of this new publishing model, a worldwide phenomenon of deceptive practices has also evolved in what are called predatory journals. Faculty, staff, and students will engage speakers in discussions about legitimate open access publishers, peer review, editing practices characteristic of established journals, and the newer phenomenon of predatory conferences. Participants will also learn about the Think.Check.Submit website, as well as strategies to identify legitimate open access resources that empower authors and presenters.
