Theodore Dreiser Visiting Writers Series: Jessica Chiccehitto Hindman and Erin Pringle

The Theodore Dreiser Visiting Writers Series will feature memoirist Jessica Chiccehitto Hindman and novelist Erin Pringle on Thursday, November 19th at 6:00 pm via Zoom. This series is made possible by support from the College of Arts and Sciences, Distance Education, and Multidisciplinary Studies, along with grant funding from the Indiana Arts Commission and its regional affiliate, Arts Illiana. This event is free and open to the public. Jessica Chiccehitto Hindman's debut, Sounds Like Titanic: A Memoir was named a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, a "best book of 2019" by Amazon and Vox, described as "moving" by the New Yorker, "outrageously funny" by O, The Oprah Magazine, and "fascinating" by NPR. Her recent writing has appeared in McSweeney's Internet Tendency, The New York Times Magazine, Brevity, and Hippocampus. She holds a BA in Middle Eastern studies and an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Columbia University, and a PhD in English from the University of North Texas. She is an Associate Professor and English at Northern Kentucky University. Jessica grew up in the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She now lives in Newport, Kentucky with her husband, the astronomer Nathan De Lee. Erin Pringle is the author of a novel, Hezada! I Miss You, two short story collections, The Whole World at Once and The Floating Order, and three chapbooks: How The Sun Burns Among Hills of Rock and Pebble, The Lightning Tree, and The Wandering House. Her work has earned multiple Pushcart Prize nominations, has been selected for Best American Notable Non-Required Reading, among other honors. She is a recipient of a Washington State Artist Trust fellowship, and her book Whole World at Once was selected for performance in L.A.'s New Short Fiction Series. Erin studied literature and creative writing at Indiana State University and then received her MFA in Fiction from Texas State University-San Marcos.
