Fiction writer Veronica Montes will read for The Theodore Dreiser Visiting Writers Series on Thursday, March 11th at 6:00 pm via Zoom. This reading is free and open to the public. Veronica Montes is the author of Benedicta Takes Wing & Other Stories (Philippine Literary House) and the chapbook The Conquered Sits at the Bus Stop, Waiting (Black Lawrence Press), which won the Black River Chapbook Competition in 2019. Her fiction has been published or is forthcoming in Wigleaf, SmokeLong Quarterly, CHEAP POP, Fractured Lit, Mom Egg Review, Bamboo Ridge, and elsewhere. Her reading venues include The Library of Congress - Asian Division, USC Asian Pacific Museum, San Francisco Main Library, Kearny Street Workshop, and The Filipino American International Book Festival. Veronica is a second-generation Filipinx American, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she makes her home with her husband and three daughters. This event is made possible with support from the Indiana Arts Commission, Arts Illiana, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Distance Education Program, and the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies.
