Description

Center for Global Engagement in association with COMM 101 class sponsoring this event to educate the experience that Refugees go through when they forced to leave their country. Walk a Mile in a Refugee's Shoes is an hour long simulation which has been tailored to a 50-minute class session. It allows participants to assume the identity and role of a refugee.

Through the simulation, students will be given the opportunity to learn what experiences a refugee faces once forced to flee their country. Participants encounter seven stations designed to mimic the process a refugee would encounter. It is an opportunity to be enlightened on refugee reality, and the final station offers information on learning how to advocate or get in involved in compassionate assistance initiatives.

After the whole process there will be a few minutes reflection session on their experience.
