Description

Dr. Hilary E. Kahn a leading scholar in the field of internationalization of higher education and the Director for the Center for the Study of Global Change at Indiana University, will be delivering a session on “What makes a course internationalized”. This introductory session will address how to integrate international, global and intercultural components into course contents, teaching methods, assignments and assessment. The session will be held in the Bayh College of Education, Whitaker Room, Room 110G.

Dr. Hilary E. Kahn is the Director for the Center for the Study of Global Change at Indiana University Bloomington. She is also the Director of Indiana University’s Ph.D. Minor in Global Studies and leads the Framing the Global Research and Publication Project (with IU Press), the Global Learning Across Indiana Project (with Ivy Tech Community College) and the Voices and Visions: Islam and Muslims from a Global Perspective Project. Dr. Kahn is also faculty in the International Studies Department, and has taught numerous courses on topics such as issues and approaches to global studies, visual anthropology, intercultural communication, human rights and the arts, and indigenous cultures of Central America and Mexico. Her areas of research and expertise include global teaching and learning, visual anthropology, grounded global studies, critical social theory, visual pedagogies, and the internationalization of higher education. She is leading the strategic planning efforts for the internationalization of Indiana University and is regularly invited to speak and lead workshops on curriculum internationalization and global learning for universities and educational organizations. 

She was the past leader of the Internationalization of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Committee for NAFSA (Association of International Educators) and she is currently on the Executive Committee of AIEA (Association of International Education Administrators) and the Advisory Board for Diversity and Democracy of AAC&U (Association of American Colleges and Universities).
