Celebrate National Poetry Month this April by taking this class. U.S. Poets Laureate II is a second installment that answers these questions: Who are the U.S. Poets Laureate? How were they chosen? How long do they serve? We will answer these questions and read together poems by recent Poets Laureate, such as Maxine Kumin, Rita Dove, William Jay Smith, Billy Collins, and the present Poet Laureate Juan Filipe Herrera.  We will also read poems by poets, such as Mary Oliver and Naomi Shihab Nye, who are good candidates to be future Poets Laureate.  If you have found poetry puzzling and overwhelming in the past, you will find the poems we read in this class are surprisingly understandable, enjoyable, and a good occasion for sharing life experiences. Join us to learn about poets and poetry.
