COMMITTEES

Advisory Council

The principal function of the OLLI at ISU Advisory Council is to advise and support the OLLI Coordinator in administering the OLLI at ISU program. The Advisory Council works in accordance with overarching Indiana State University policies and honor the university agreement with The Bernard Osher Foundation funding guidelines. All fiduciary, financial, liability, legal responsibilities, and accountability for OLLI at ISU rest solely with Indiana State University as represented by the Center for Community Engagement and the OLLI Coordinator. The Advisory Council is comprised of five (5) to ten (10) OLLI members who are appointed by the OLLI Coordinator. Members of the Advisory Council will serve as team leaders, but they may also provide council on a wide variety of OLLI-related topics. Team leaders will recruit OLLI members from the membership at-large to serve on their teams.

Program Team

The Program Team will assume a large role in the selection of classes for the Fall Term, the Winter Term, and the Summer Term as well as the recruitment of instructors for those classes. Through an established process, they will take curriculum suggestions from the membership at-large in addition to ideas which were developed within the Program Team. The Program Team leader will work closely with the OLLI Coordinator in finalizing the course offerings for each term.  

Marketing & Membership Team

The Marketing & Membership Team will assume a large role in marketing OLLI at ISU as well as recruiting members; these two things go hand-in-hand. Team members are to actively participate in marketing opportunities, including developing marketing materials, delivering course guides and membership forms, meeting with various organizations to promote OLLI, and various other tasks that help promote OLLI at ISU and grow membership. The Marketing & Membership Team leader will also work with the OLLI Coordinator in constantly monitoring membership numbers and setting goals for membership growth.

Fundraising Team

The Fundraising Team will focus primarily on raising funds for OLLI at ISU through various fundraising activities such as events, an annual campaign, donations, and other fundraising activities. The Fundraising Team may also advise the OLLI Coordinator regarding various financial decisions if the need arises and at the request of the OLLI Coordinator.

Diversity Team

The Diversity Team will work closely with the Marketing & Membership Team to grow the OLLI at ISU membership by engaging the diverse communities which may be underrepresented in the current membership. Such diversity may pertain to various ethnic communities as well as to various socio-economic, educational, and professional communities. The Diversity Team may also work closely with the Program Team to help promote course selections that may appeal to various diverse communities.

Volunteer Team

The Volunteer Team will recruit and manage a large group of member volunteers to assist with various OLLI activities. Such activities might include clerical work, classroom hosting, event management, and other duties as the need arises. The Volunteer Team leader will be responsible for communicating with the OLLI Coordinator and recruiting and assigning volunteers as needed.
