How do I apply to graduate?

When is the deadline to apply for graduation?
Students who expect to complete a graduate degree during the current academic semester must complete an application for graduation. The graduation application can be found within your MyISU Portal under the "Student Self-Service Badge." The application must be submitted by the following deadlines:
- March 1 for Spring graduates
- October 1 for Fall graduates
- June 1 for Summer graduates *
* Summer graduates (except doctoral students) may attend the Spring Commencement Ceremony. To appear in the Spring Commencement Booklet, Summer graduates must apply by March 1.
When is the commencement ceremony?

When will I receive my diploma?
You will not receive your diploma at the commencement ceremony. As you walk across the stage at the commencement ceremony, you will receive a diploma cover but your diploma will not be in it. You will receive your diploma(s) approximately 30-60 days after the close of the term. Therefore, it is very important that you have an active address on file in the Office of Registration and Records. You can review (and change) your mailing address on-line or by contacting the Office of Registration and Records.
Where do I get my cap and gown and order my invitations?
Caps and gowns can be purchased at the ISU bookstore. Invitation orders also are handled through the bookstore.
How do I know if I have completed requirements for graduation?
It is your responsibility to make sure that you have completed the requirements for graduation. The College of Graduate and Professional Studies can verify that you have applied to graduate. However, if you have questions related to whether you have completed requirements to graduate, please contact your academic advisor.
If I complete graduation requirements during the summer, in which commencement do I participate?
If you complete requirements for graduation during the summer term, you will be included in the Fall commencement ceremony.
What should I do if I apply to graduate but then do not complete requirements to graduate that term?
If the degree is not awarded, you must re-apply online through your MyISU Portal at the beginning of the term that you will complete all degree requirements. If you have questions regarding your degree requirements, please contact the department of your program.
