SON Faculty Assembly

Meeting Schedule

The SON faculty shall have the authority to formulate policy governing:

  • The curricula which shall include program assessments and evaluations.
  • The facilitation of teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • The structure of the SON with reference to academic matters.
  • Standards for admission, retention, progression, graduation, dismissal, and reinstatement of students.
  • Faculty conduct and discipline.
  • Faculty appointment, retention, tenure, and promotion.
  • Protection for freedom of expression and academic freedom.
  • Aspects of student life, which relate directly to the educational process.
  • Distribution and award SON resources to support student success.
  • Create and issue internal awards.

Officers

  • The officers of the SON Faculty Assembly shall be Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary.
  • These officers will be the same as the officers of the Steering Committee.

Membership

  • Voting Members - All regular faculty appointed to the SON shall constitute the voting members and the Faculty Assembly of the SON.
  • Ex-Officio Members - The Dean, Associate Deans, temporary nursing faculty, and professional staff of the SON within the College of Health and Human Services shall hold speaking seats
  • Ex-Officio - Non-voting Members - EAP, All Staff, Students
  • Meetings (except for executive sessions) are open to all members of the faculty, administration, staff, and students.
