Message from The Director
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
Welcome to the Center for Global Engagement. I am delighted that you are visiting us; as a member of the Sycamore family or just looking to join our community. Our office is excited to extend you a warm welcome by offering you assistance in a variety of ways.
Have you had questions about the ISU community and how you fit in? If the answer is yes, please let me help you navigate your way to an answer. Our people are here to help, so please contact us with your questions concerning issues related to coming as an exchange visitor student or scholar, immigration policies related to your activities on campus, study abroad, faculty travel, faculty-led student travel, or the student success and community engagement. Associate Director Mr. El-Houcin Chaqra, Assistant Director, Ms. Maria Chaqra, as well as Student Advisor, Ms. Jennifer McClure are able to help with immigration questions. Mr. Chaqra also works with sponsored students, faculty travel grants and reviews international memoranda of understanding documents (MOUs) between Indiana State University and organizations from around the world. Associate Director, Dr. Zachariah Mathew leads Indiana State University’s comprehensive internationalization efforts. Under Dr. Mathew’s guidance, Ms. Kristi Barley directs our study abroad program making the world available to Indiana State University graduate and undergraduate students, and Ms. Pamela Tabor advises and supports efforts by international students on campus in student service and leadership development. Administrative Assistant, Ms. Kara Sterling provides budget and clerical support for all of our programs in the Center for Global Engagement. I am also here to assist you in any way that I can. Please contact me at Chris.McGrew@indstate.edu if you have any questions. Welcome to Indiana State University and good luck in all of your endeavors here!
