Credit Outreach

Flexible Fees Requests

Periodically, Indiana State University has opportunities to develop academic programs of strategic importance on the Terre Haute campus. Some of these opportunities provide for the delivery of instruction resulting in the awarding of ISU credit hours with flexible fees.

Indiana State University periodically has opportunities to develop academic on-campus workshops of strategic importance, which are not in lieu of program-related semester/term course offerings. Some of these workshop opportunities provide for the delivery of instruction resulting in the awarding of ISU credit hours. Unlike traditional program-related courses delivered on-campus, many of these workshop opportunities do not require the utilization of services and facilities provided for traditional programming.

In May 2009, the University Board of Trustees authorized that the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Vice President for Business Affairs, Finance and University Treasurer could determine programs of strategic importance to the University, that are not in lieu of program-related semester/term course offerings. The Board of Trustees further authorized that with the approval of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Vice President for Business Affairs, Finance and University Treasurer, on-campus workshop registrants could be exempt from the assessment of mandatory fees such as the Late Registration Fee and Recreation Center Fee.

To request approval for the elimination of select mandatory fees in association with a credit bearing on-campus workshop, please submit the routing form, program description, and budget to Beth Loudermilk in Extended Learning, Tirey Hall 134J (x8384). After review, material will be forwarded to the Provost. Please note that registration and associated payment for these workshops must be routed through Extended Learning.

  • Flexible Fee Assessment for Credit Bearing Off-Campus Workshops

Periodically, Indiana State University has opportunities to develop academic programs of strategic importance at locations remote to the Terre Haute campus. Some of these opportunities provide for the delivery of instruction resulting in the awarding of ISU credit hours. Unlike programs delivered on campus, many of these programs do not require the utilization of many of the services and facilities provided for on-campus programs. On February 24, 2006, the Board of Trustees authorized the ability to determine programs of strategic importance to the University that could be eligible for a flexible fee assessment. It is further authorized that with appropriate approval, a credit hour fee could be established that is not lower than the direct costs of the program being provided.

To request approval for the reduction of academic credit hour fees for a credit bearing off-campus program, please submit the routing form, program description, and budget to Jill Blunk in the Office of Extended Learning, Tirey Hall 134E (x2670). Please note that registration and associated payment for these programs/workshops must be routed through the Office of Extended Learning.
