Vision & Mission

What We Believe

Vision

The vision of the Office of Residential life is to be the premier residential education program in the country as exemplified by a program

  • where intentional learning communities foster student success and achievement,
  • where permitting students to fail is not an option,
  • where community members regularly act as advocates and allies in alleviating oppression in our communities,
  • where the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities in a way that creates a home away from home for our students is a priority,
  • where staff development is focused on cultivating effective and ethical leaders on our campus, in our community, and in the world.

Mission

The primary function of Residential Life is to support the academic mission of the University by providing a living environment for students that is conducive to learning and total personal development. This environment is provided through the coordinated efforts of the major units of Residential Life: Housing Services, Residence Hall Staff, and Dining Services.
