History of the Center for Student Success

The Student Academic Services Center, the unit which supplied all student support services and freshman advising for a number of years, was re-named and re-structured in 2013. With the creation of University College, which became the advising college for all entering freshmen, the Student Academic Services Center became the Center for Student Success and offered tutoring, supplemental instruction, and housed the following programs and offices: summer bridge program LEAP, Office of 21st Century Scholars, Student-Athlete Support Services, First-Generation Program, and the Student Support Services Program. It evolved with the transfer of Student-Athlete Support Services, the discontinuation of the summer bridge LEAP, and the addition of the newly created summer exploration program SCEE and the Students in Transition Program which offer support and services to students leaving University College, transfer students, and students changing majors. In 2015, the Center for Student Success moved into its new home in Normal Hall.
