Goal 4 - Strategy 1

Increase private giving in support of Indiana State University

In a remarkable show of support for the educational mission of Indiana State University, distinguished alumna Lois “Jo” Einstandig pledged $250,000 over the next five years to help fund the university’s need-based Bridge the Gap scholarship campaign. Too often, financial shortfalls prevent students from completing their undergraduate studies. Bridge the Gap scholarships provide motivated students the funding they need to lessen or eliminate the difference between their financial resources (financial aid, family contributions, etc.) and the full cost of attendance.

Jo Einstandig’s generosity has already inspired others to give to the Bridge the Gap campaign. These gifts will provide educational opportunities for the next generation of leaders. To read more about Jo Einstandig’s lead gift, click here.

Indiana State University is one of six institutions to receive a $500,000 commitment from FedEx Corporation to participate in the company’s $2.5 million Purple Runway Aviation Scholarship Program. Currently, more than 200 students are enrolled in the College of Technology’s Professional Aviation Flight Technology program. This high-demand undergraduate program will receive $100,000 in scholarship funds each year for five years, with the first round of scholarships awarded fall 2019. The FedEx corporate partnership is an important university initiative that helps defray the costs of pilot training for Indiana State students.

By joining forces with FedEx, Indiana State is playing a significant role in addressing the nation’s current shortage of licensed pilots. To read more about Indiana State’s participation in the FedEx Purple Runway Aviation Scholarship Program, click here.
