About the Code of Student Conduct

We encourage students to "Be Rooted", in the Code of Student Conduct (Code) by being educated on their rights' and responsibilities’ as Sycamores. "I didn’t know," is not a reasonable excuse for engaging in behavior that goes against Indiana State's standards or expectations.

The Code contains policies governing the behavior of all students and student organizations at Indiana State University. These policies and prohibited conduct are necessary to the orderly operation of the University and the maintenance of an environment designed to enhance the academic and personal growth of students.

Students and student organizations are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with these policies. Furthermore, students are encouraged to leave the presence of a conduct violation or notify a University official. Students and student organizations are responsible for the actions of their guests and/or associates while on University premises and at functions sponsored by the University/ or a registered student organization. Passively participating or assisting others to commit acts prohibited by the University, will likely result in an outcome as if one had committed the prohibited act.

The Board of Trustees has approved these regulations and has empowered the president of the University and his/her designees to enforce the regulations, adjudicate violations, and assign appropriate sanctions/stipulations. This office is the designated office for addressing student behavior and violations of University policy.
