Caroline Pfrank, Sr. Packaging Engineer II at Zimmer Biomet

Carolyn Pfrank graduated from Indiana State University in 2005 with a degree in Packaging Technology. She supports her alma mater by serving as a mentor and on the Advisory Council for Females in Technology. Carolyn is a Sr. Packaging Engineer II for Zimmer Biomet, an orthopaedic device company based in Warsaw, Indiana. To package each device properly, she works with multiple vendors as well as the Process and Quality teams to design and validate packaging systems. Outside of work, Carolyn trains her two Border Terriers for a variety of performance events and is involved in the Indiana 4-H Dog program.

 

Sarah Andreasen, Market Segment Manager for Kawneer Comppany, Business Unit of Arconic, Inc.

Sarah Andreasen is a Market Segment Manager for Kawneer Company, a business unit of Arconic, Inc. In this role, she is responsible for building construction trend analysis, as well as business development with key market influencers. Sarah graduated from Indiana State University in May 2009, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology, and a minor in Manufacturing Technology. She also recently completed MBA in Management of Technology from Georgia Institute of Technology. Throughout undergraduate studies, Sarah gained experience as an intern for Delphi Electronics & Safety, and as a co-op for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana. Sarah’s career with Arconic began in 2009, and she has held roles in process improvement, operations, manufacturing and product engineering prior to her current role.

 

Azizi Arrington-Bey, Associate Professor of Interior Architecture Design at Indiana State University

Azizi Arrington-Bey is a licensed architect, registered interior designer, and an associate professor of Interior Architecture Design at Indiana State University. She spent five years after graduating in 2005 with her Masters from Florida A&M University (FAMU), practicing architecture as a project manager and teaching as an adjunct instructor at a university and community college in Florida. As a student at FAMU, Azizi was president of the American Institute of Architects Student (AIAS) chapter, a member of the National Organization of Minority Architects Students (NOMAS), and she created, organized funding, and opened a student run supply store for the architecture students. Currently, Azizi is a member of NOMA, AIA-Indy, and volunteers as a Cadette troop leader. Azizi’s research focuses on the emotional experiences created through architecture and design as a results of incorporating art into the design process.

 

Lacrisha Clinton, Technical Solutions Analyst at Cerner

I graduated in 2010 with a B.A.s in French and Psychology after studying abroad in Switzerland. I was an English teach assistant in France for a year and then proceeded to teach French at Franklin Central High School for a year then Paris High School for a year. I went back to ISU and graduated 2017 with a B.S. in Information Technology. Thanks to my internship with the RHIC Simulation Center, I was hired on at Cerner, June 2017, as a Technical Solution Analyst.

 

Desiree Edwards, Human Resources Generalist at Briljen

Desiree Edwards graduated from Indiana State University in May 2015 with a B.S. in Human Resource Development for Industry and Higher Education. She obtained minors in Language Studies: Spanish and Business Administration. During her time at Indiana State, Desiree gained industry experience through internships at Duke Energy, GE Aviation, and Simonton Windows and Doors. She also studied abroad at Universidad Veritas in Costa Rica. Desiree served as Secretary and President of Females in Technology during her college experience. After graduation, Desiree held positions with Simonton Windows and Doors and American Senior Communities. Recently, Desiree began her career as HR Generalist for Briljent, a woman founded organization that provides business and technology solutions. As an HR professional, Desiree strives to help employees leave a meaningful legacy.

 

Aleyda Flores, Project Engineer Specialist at Watchfire Signs

Aleyda G. Flores graduated from Indiana State University in May 2016 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering Technology. While at ISU, she was actively engaged in different student organizations, where she held different leadership roles including Vice-President of Females in Technology (FiT), and Director of Finance/Inventory for the Technology Student Leadership Council (TSLC). In her professional role as a Project Engineer Specialist, she supports the proprietary billboard operation software and provides technical assistance during installation and going forward for all LED signs. Watchfire Signs is a U.S. manufacturer for outdoor digital signs that has over 2,000 billboards installed just in the U.S., where we implement the most effective, streamlined process to create the highest quality LED signs available. Aleyda continues to support her alma mater as a mentor and a member of the FiT Advisory Council

 

Jennifer Hale, Lecture, Built Environment at Indiana State University

Jen Hale is an alumna of ISU, graduating with a construction management degree in 2009 and a founding member of FiT. She also holds a master’s degree in Urban Planning and Public Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her professional experiences include structural design; commercial and residential interior layouts; community/public oriented space design; construction project management; and project budget analysis. She currently teaches in the Department of Built Environment at ISU.

 

Megan Jackson, Technology and Engineering Education teacher at West Vigo High School

Megan graduated in 2012 from Indiana State University with a B.S. in Technology and Engineering Education, minoring in Computer-Aided Design and Motorsports Management. She later returned to ISU to complete a master’s in career and technology education and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Curriculum Instruction and Media Technology. A teacher at West Vigo High School, she currently teaches construction, advanced manufacturing, production tech, and robotics. She also teaches training courses at Rose-Hulman. While a student at ISU, Megan served in several leadership roles including president of Females in Technology (FiT) and the Technology and Engineering Education Collegiate Association (TEECA). She had several great role-models and mentors who inspired her to teach, perhaps the most influential being Dr. Kara Harris at ISU. Megan continues to support her alma mater by serving as a mentor and on the Females in Technology Advisory Council.

 

Bethany Kortz, Graduate Assistant, Human Resources Development at Indiana State University

Bethany Kortz graduated from Indiana State University in 2015, with a B.S. in Human Resource Development. Bethany returned to Indiana State University in 2016, to pursue a M.S. in Human Resource Development, and will graduate in May of 2018. Bethany is a graduate assistant for the Department of Human Resource Development and Performance Technologies, where she is a co-instructor and research assistant. Bethany currently works as an intern within the Human Resources Department at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana, with a focus in project management. During her time at Indiana State University, Bethany has served on the Caleb Mills Distinguished Teaching Award Committee, and is an active member within the Society for Human Resource Management.

 

Kristina Lawyer,Ph.D., Assistant Professor at Indiana State University Automotive and Mechanical Engineering Technology

Dr. Kristina Lawyer is an Assistant Professor of Automotive Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology at Indiana State. She graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2008 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. She earned her M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2012 and recently finished her Ph.D. on the use of higher carbon number alcohols in SI engine fuels. She worked at Argonne National Lab as part of her Ph.D. research during which she operated an engine dynamometer and emissions measurement equipment. Outside of her engineering career, Kristina is the driver for Lawyer Motorsports which competes in the NHRA Top Dragster class throughout the Midwest. She has been racing since she was 7 years old. In addition to racing, Kristina is an alumnae of, and the current Chapter Adviser for, the Delta Xi Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi Women’s Fraternity. Kristina serves as a strong role model for women in engineering technology and serves on the FiT Advisory Council.

 

Odessa Pennington, Manufacturing Quality Engineer at Advics Manufacturing

Odessa Pennington is Manufacturing Quality Engineer at Advics Manufacturing Indiana in Terre Haute, Indiana, main focus on machining and injection molding. As a QE she develops new fixtures and gages to verify the quality of the products, performs root cause analyze, and develops new processes to aid in the continual production of high quality safe braking systems for Toyota, Honda and Nissan vehicles. She is also involved with the development of new model products and works alongside the design engineers to verify the braking systems will be capable for mass production, as well as the creation of APQP documents and Statistical Process Control. She graduated from ISU with a degree in Automotive Technology Management and a minor in Manufacturing Technology in 2009. While at ISU, she was an active member of SAE and FIT, where she developed workshops for area girl scouts and local teens demonstrating advances in automotive safety and the mechanics behind fluid power

 

Cheryl Roberson, Director of Service Programs at Rolls-Royce

Cheryl is a Program Director within the Defense sector at Rolls-Royce. In this role, she is responsible for the success of the E-2 Hawkeye, Global Hawk, Triton and T56 industrial engine programs. She manages all elements of these programs including production, sustainment, development and growth. In addition to her program responsibilities, Cheryl is an executive advisor to the Rolls-Royce Women in North America (RRWNA) group and serves on the Board of Directors of Lockheed Martin Commercial Engine Solutions. Immediately prior to her current position, she served as the Director of Service Programs in which she was responsible for out of production Rolls-Royce products within the United States Department of Defense inventory. Cheryl is a certified Project Management Professional and graduated with a B.S. degree from Indiana State University’s School of Business. She is actively supporting her alma mater and is serving on the advisory boards of the College of Technology and Females in Technology. Cheryl was born in Colorado and raised in Indiana. She is married to Jon and has two grown daughters.

 

Riem Rostom,Ph.D., Instructor Mechanical Engineering Technology at Indiana State University

Dr. Riem Rostom is a full-time lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Indiana State University. She graduated from Alexandria University in Egypt with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2004. Speaking five languages she worked as a translator at the German Consulate, then became a Branch Manager for the American Chamber of Commerce. In 1999 she immigrated to the US with her husband. She worked as an elementary teacher in New Jersey, and a part-time drafting engineer where she combined both her passion in teaching and engineering. She went back to school and earned her M.S. in energy conservation from North Carolina A & T State University in 2010. Then she continued her studies and earned her Ph.D. from North Carolina A & T State University in 2015 in Energy and Environmental Studies.

 

Amy Schuele, Director of Operations for Integrated Cyber Infrastructure at National Center for Supercomputing Applications,

Amy Schuele is the Assistant Director of Operations in the Integrated Cyberinfrastructure Directorate at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois. Amy graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Math and Computer Science. She worked at The Boeing Company in Seattle for 5 years as a computer programmer developing displays in support of flight simulation environments. Amy has been at NCSA since 1991 serving in a variety of roles from network engineer to database programmer to technical program manager of the Integrated Data and Database Services group. She has also been involved in the XSEDE federation as manager of Allocations, Accounting and Account Management group. In her current role Amy coordinates NCSA’s computing operations, data storage, networking, security, and database services

 

Vania Seng Hamner, Engineering Consultant (Chemical) at XL Catlin

“Vania Hamner graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2014 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Spanish. While at RHIT she was a member of Alpha Chi Sigma professional chemistry fraternity and participated in six Rose Drama Club productions (including her lifelong dream, "The Phantom of the Opera"). Vania gained industry experience through internships with Dow Corning and Century Aluminum. Post-college she moved to Minneapolis for six months to kick off her career in property risk engineering for XL Catlin, training full-time with one of the few female engineers in the industry. She passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam in 2016 and is pursuing Professional Engineer licensing in the field of fire protection engineering. She resides in Bloomington and regularly travels to facilities of any and all industries throughout the Midwest and Great Plains. She stays active in the Rose community as a three-year alumna adviser for the Delta Xi chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi.”

 

Tammy Tucker, AE Program Quality Manager at Rolls-Royce

As AE Program Quality Manager at Rolls-Royce Corporation in Indianapolis, Tammy is responsible for the success of the Civil Small & Medium Engine Customer OEM Quality and Services. She manages all elements of these programs including production, sustainment, product delivery, and improvement programs. Tammy is also a member of Rolls-Royce Women in North America (RRWNA) group. She began employment with Rolls-Royce at LibertyWorks in 2007 as a Project Engineer Specialist within Experimental Assembly and Test working ADVENT. Most recently, she was an integral member of the CSME AE Programs Services Business team where she managed Lifecycle Costs and resultant aftermarket profitability. Prior to Rolls-Royce, Tammy spent over 15 years in the automotive industry where she has vast experience in Manufacturing, Quality, and Process Improvement. She holds her master’s degree in Engineering Management from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and her B.S. in Mechanical Technology from Indiana State University. Tammy is supporting her alma mater by serving on the Females in Technology Advisory Council

 

Crystal Williams, Human Resources Manager at Ryder System, Inc.

Crystal Williams is a 2005 graduate of Indiana State University with a B.S. in Community Health. She later returned to Terre Haute and obtained a M.S. degree in Human Resource Development in 2009. While obtaining her Masters degree, Crystal was also the student teacher for Intro to Computer Science while obtaining her M.S. degree. Crystal currently works as a Human Resources Manager for Ryder Logistics which produces and ships Pepsi products across the Midwest. As an HR Manager she is responsible for recruitment, employee relations, benefits, and training and development of a new applicant tracking system called Smart Track. While a student Crystal held various leadership roles, such as President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, NPHC, ISU Nursing Board Commmittee, Females In Technology, and SHRM student organization.

 

Edie Wittenmyer, Instructor in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology at Indiana State University

Edie Wittenmyer is an instructor in the College of Technology at Indiana State University. Prior to coming to ISU, she was the Senior Application Analyst Engineer at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. She graduated from Indiana State University in August 1998 with a Masters in Electronics and Computer Technology. She is currently teaching classes for Advanced Computer Components and Industrial Electronic Pulse Circuits. Edie is also a business owner in Marshall, IL, with expertise in textiles and merchandising.Wittenmyer is an instructor in the College of Technology at Indiana State University.Edie serves as a strong role model and mentor for women in engineering technology and serves on the FiT Advisory Council.

 

Ashlyn Yocom, Supplier Quality Engineer at North American Lighting

Ashlyn graduated from Indiana State University with a B.S. in Applied Engineering & Technology Management with minors in Lean Six Sigma and Advanced Manufacturing Management in 2015. She currently works as a Supplier Quality Engineer at NAL - Corporate Headquarters in Paris, IL. Headquartered in Paris, Illinois, North American Lighting (NAL) operates nine facilities in seven locations in the United States, and has a subsidiary in Mexico. NAL has grown to become the leading tier one supplier of automotive lighting systems in North America. As a Corp. SQE she develops assigned suppliers in the areas of Quality, Delivery, Service, and Total Cost. She conducts supplier quality systems surveys and supplier process reviews, leads component part design review meetings, works with the NAL Buyers to make decisions relevant to supplier product sourcing, reviews and approves PPAP submissions. Ashlyn's product commodities include injection molding and bulk compound product such as reactive hotmelt, paints, hard coats, metalizing targets and plastic resins. While at ISU, Ashlyn was an active instructional assistant tutoring multiple senior level courses in TMGT, she also tutored in the math & writing center, and is a member in Females in Technology.

 

Sarah Young, Senior Lab Technician at Packaging Corp of America

Sara Young graduated from Indiana State University in May 2017 with a B.S. in Packaging Engineering Technology and a B.A. in Japanese Language Studies. She was an actively engaged student at ISU, serving as treasurer for Females in Technology, the Institute of Packaging Professionals student chapter, and Linking Language Learners, an active member of Technology Student Leadership Council, the Tech Express Café, and an organizer of Japanese language tables, bringing Japanese exchange students and ISU students together. In her professional role as a Lab Technician at Packaging Corporation of America, she tests paper strength properties to ensure other vendors' papers meet PCA specifications and standards for use in PCA corrugated boxes.
