Lieutenant Colonel John D. Frederick is Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training  Corps Detachment 218, Terre Haute, Indiana. The “Phantoms” Detachment includes five officers, enlisted, and civilian cadre and is responsible for training 20-50 cadets, commissioning 10 annually from Indiana State and DePauw Universities as well as Rose Hulman Institute of Technology and Ivy Tech Community College in western Indiana. Lieutenant Colonel Frederick received his commission as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2003. He is a command pilot with over 18 years of active service and 2,200 flying hours in the T-6, UH-1, and HH-60G. Prior to his current assignment, Lieutenant Colonel Frederick was Commander of the 563d Operations Support Squadron. Lieutenant Colonel Frederick has flown combat and combat support missions in operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Odyssey Dawn, Unified Protector, Inherent Resolve, and during humanitarian operations supporting Joint Task Forces Katrina and Rita.
