Program Description   This service-learning course facilitates student participation in a medical service trip with Timmy Global Health (TGH), a non-profit foundation in Indianapolis that seeks to alleviate healthcare disparities in developing countries. Students in the course will travel to Quito, Ecuador on a Timmy-supported service trip in January 2016. The course explores the effectiveness of service trips and of international volunteerism. The course also provides students a basic understanding of the people, history, and culture of Ecuador. The travel is affiliated with the local chapter of TGH, a student-run, volunteer organization at Indiana State University. Students enrolled in this course are expected to participate in the fundraising activities of the Timmy chapter in support of the TGH mission. Participation is limited to 10 students.
